ARASIA Board of Representatives Meeting During GC-69

Representatives from the ten countries that are members of the Cooperative Agreement for Arab States in Asia for Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology  met in Vienna this morning to update on progress in technical cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) this year and consolidate future plans.

During the meeting, discussions covered strategic and programmatic issues such as the proposed regional seedbank feasibility study, lessons learned from current regional projects in health, agriculture and the environment, and plans for the next TC cycle – including closer collaboration with UN partners in the field of cultural heritage.

In addition, the delegates welcomed the designation of two new Regional Resource Centres (RRCs) in Jordan and Kuwait for environmental monitoring – joining the five existing centres already active in the fields of nuclear medicine and dosimetry. The RRCs support capacity building in the region, strengthening South-South cooperation.

“This ceremony not only celebrates the outstanding capabilities and dedication of the designated centres, but also symbolizes the spirit of partnership and collaboration that underpins all our regional projects,” said Dr Bilal Nsouli, Chairman of ARASIA.
