ARASIA Board Representatives Meeting held in Vienna

The ARASIA Board Representatives Meeting was held on 15 September 2026 at IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, on the margins of the 70th IAEA General Conference.

The meeting was opened by Dr. Bilal Nsouli, ARASIA Chairperson, and Mr. Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation.

ARASIA Member State Representatives reviewed the implementation of the ARASIA Programme, exchanged views on ongoing and planned regional activities, and discussed priorities for strengthening regional cooperation.

• ARASIA Programme implementation and the 2028–2029 Technical Cooperation Programme

• Planning of ARASIA activities for 2027

• The official designation and MoU signing for the Iraqi Regional Resource Centre on Environmental Radiation Monitoring

• The ARASIA Medium-Term Strategy

• Communication and outreach activities

• Regional cooperation in nuclear security and resource mobilization

The meeting provided an opportunity for Member States to exchange views and contribute to the continued development of ARASIA and its regional cooperation programme.
